Polkadot Ecosystem Weekly Digest. 20–26 Mar/2023

Polkadot / Kusama

• Smoldot, a light client for Polkadot and many other Substrate-based chains, allowing users to interact with a chain without an RPC endpoint, has reached version 1.0.0.
• Referendum 109, setting the Polkadot auction schedule for the rest of 2023, has successfully passed.
• Polkadot Bled has announced its upcoming mini-conference. The one-day event is designed for Web3 natives, tech enthusiasts, and curious newcomers interested in discovering more about Polkadot.
• Pull Request #6701 introducing OpenGov into Polkadot is now merged. This PR also removes Gov1 from Kusama, and needs to be included in a release to propose a runtime upgrade that will be up for vote by the community.
• Polkadot v0.9.40 has been released with MEDIUM upgrade priority.
• Khala has won the 74th slot in the Kusama parachain auction with 1643 KSM locked in its favor. It has renewed the slot for the second time, keeping its original parachain ID 2004.

Acala / Karura

• Acala’s DeFi-focused appchain has been operating on Polkadot for just over a year and supports 8 different wallets across desktop, mobile, and hardware for DOT liquid staking, tDOT minting, swaps, LPs, and more. The team has shared an up-to-date rundown of the wallet options and how to get started.

HydraDX / Basilisk

• After receiving a report from a whitehat, the HydraDX team was able to identify and successfully mitigate a vulnerability in the Omnipool.

Ontology

• Ontology is incubating a new Layer2 project called Goshen. This collaboration further promotes interactivity between Ontology & Ethereum ecosystems, providing a better choice for Web3 developers & users.

Energy Web

• Energy Web has issued its latest Bi-Weekly Recap. Check it out to stay up to date with everything that is going on in the Energy Web Ecosystem.

Crust / Shadow

• Crust is launching the Gateway Collection Program to improve the performance of storage speed. Apply if you have a computer that never turns off, meets the minimum configuration requirements and can provide an IPFS gateway.
• As an ecosystem project of Arbitrum portal, Crust has been awarded with 75.000 ARB tokents. The team decided to distribute them to all the community members who have been supporting the project all along.

Litentry / Litmus

• Litentry is still searching for 150 volunteers to participate in the test and be a part of the next-generation Web3 identity management platform.
• Litentry will execute a rebalance transfer to the Token Bridge. The reason is this: there are a total of 12M LIT on both the Litentry and Litmus parachains, and there should also be 12M LIT locked on the corresponding Token Bridge to maintain the total supply of 100M LIT unchanged.

Astar / Shiden

• Utilify will join Astar’s Web3 Incubation Program, bringing No-code Blockchain Loyalty Management to the ecosystem. The full list of program finalists is available here.
• A recent case study from DIA explored the Astar ecosystem in its latest update, including Astar’s cross-chain virtual machines with XVM. Read more.
• Astar launches collaborative ink!ubator Bounty Program in cooperation with Parity, 727.ventures, Phala & others, to help bootstrap the development of dApps, tools, and Smart Contract templates for the Polkadot-native Wasm environment.

Moonbeam / Moonriver

• With this new feature, developers can now make use of real-time cryptocurrency and forex data on Moonbeam & Moonriver via API3 Market’s self-serve process.

• The Moonbeam Community Ecosystem Grant Snapshot Vote is over, and the Grants Committee is now working on adjustments based on the proposal outlined rules.

Bit.Country / Pioneer

• Among a series of recently developed features currently under active testing on Bit.Country, the Network Governance module has reached the final stage of testing and has just been elected as a Release Candidate for next week.

Manta / Calamari

• Manta Network has introduced its Ecosystem Grants Program. It is designed to support projects that help Manta with activity, ecosystem growth, and Web3 & Web2 user acquisition.

Enjin / Efinity

• A new Enjin Wallet (2.2.2) update, that contains only fixes and usability improvements, has been released.

Equilibrium / Genshiro

• As Equilibrium has integrated with Interlay, iBTC & INTR tokens are now available on Equilibrium’s DeFi platform.
• Equilibrium has published a guide for depositing and withdrawing EQ tokens using Gate.io and Metamask.

Dock

• Instant Credential Verification on Dock is now available.
• Dock brings Web3 to Auth0 customers. This integration will allow developers to easily integrate decentralized identifiers into their sign-in flows. Read more.
